At Ultra Running News we are committed to bringing the most interesting and helpful information to our readers.
While we are still in this launch phase, we are looking for passionate ultrarunners who would like to join our team as guest writers from time-to-time. Bottom line, we want more runners who write.
These guest writers or bloggers would submit articles or inspirational stories from races they have done. They may also write about lessons they have learned along the way, training tips, balancing ultrarunning with parenting, etc, etc.
If you fit this description, or if you know someone who does, please let us know as we would like to discuss the details with them.

This is my blog post right after my first half marathon. I’m no “writer” but I have a passion! Enjoy.
Here is a press release for the event I am organizing:
*Ultra Distance Marathon Comes to St. Croix*
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – August 18, 2009 – The St. Croix Scenic 50 starts at 5 am on January 24, 2010 and is a fifty mile
endurance run from Fort Christiansvaern to Fort Frederik and back, ending at The Bucaneer’s Mermaid Beach. This race represents the first “ultramarathon” (anything over a full 26.2 mile marathon) held on St. Croix and a new challenge for endurance athletes on island and around the world.
From water’s edge to mountaintop to water’s edge and back, the St. Croix Scenic 50 promises to be as challenging as it is beautiful with views of the whole island.
The course: Starts in Christiansted at the historic fort and leaves town heading west towards Salt River. Runners will then climb Scenic East Drive and follow the Scenic Drive, across the top of The Beast, descending by Ham’s Bluff. The course runs along the shoreline to Frederiksted, looping through town before returning runners along the same route back to Christiansted. Finally, runners continue east past Fort Christiansvaern to The Buccaneer, finishing on the beach.
Participants will be supported through a number of aid stations
approximately 5-6 miles apart. The event will feature an early
start for those who may need more than the 13.5 hours allotted and.
The St. Croix Scenic 50 will conclude with an awards banquet and a whole lot of tired feet.

Hi Matt, thanks for the update on your St Croix ultramarathon. We will make sure we update the information on http://www.UltramarathonCalendar.com and will post this release there as well.
I see myself as a future ultra runner, but I care about my body and care about my sport so I am preparing for ultras ultra methodically. Started competing in trail running last year doing 10Ks. I am training to compete in the Gay Games 2010 in 2 events, 10k and half marathon. In 2 years I should be competent and competing in half marathons and marathons and in 3-4 years I see myself doing marathons and 50k trail races. Because ultras are run very slow and very painfully, yet with a strong intention, I see myself doing ultras in my future after extensive years of training. I’m hardening my body and mind for these in a sane way with my body’s consent. I write extensively about this journey, and I am happy to do the short distances now because I know what is in store later, and I want to be prepared to do my best at it instead of just jumping into a fad and running 100 miles barefoot tomorrow. here’s a sample of my work: http://trailrunningdolphintalker.wordpress.com/2009/09/28/coastal-trail/
