Rock/Creek Trail Series – SE Tennessee

by ultrarunner on February 27, 2010

“Choose a lifestyle of adventure throughout the year with the Rock/Creek Trail Series. Discover new trails and open roads, with all the promise they hold. Find yourself, get lost in a great experience, and find yourself all over again. We invite you to remember the world outside. Every day you do, you’ll fell wide awake, truly alive, and glad to be so.”

That’s the opening paragraph to Rock/Creek’s full page ad in the Race Issue 2010 TrailRunner Magazine advertising its 2010 eight race trail series. Although not all of the eight races are ultras, there are two 50k’s, a 100k, a marathon and a 3-day 60-mile stage race. Rock/Creek has designed a great trail series that builds throughout the year, culminating in December’s Lookout Mountain 100k. So even those former runners who haven’t laced them up in a while can, with proper, consistent training and some good luck in the health/injury department, can run these races. And for the more hardcore ultrarunners out there, the ultras are challenging. All of the races in the series take place in and around Chattanooga, TN. If you live in the SE Tennessee, NW Georgia or North Alabama area, you live too close to come up with a reasonable excuse to miss this series. If you live elsewhere in the U.S., come discover why Chattanooga was named one of the Ten Best Towns in 2008 by Outside Magazine.
